NEW YORK MTV says it is ditching plans for indoor performances for its upcoming Video Music Awards, opting for outdoor shows spread throughout New York City instead. Organizers had planned for some performances inside Brooklyns Barclays Center for the Aug. 30 show, but say they will follow the guidance of state and local officials to move them outside. New York City was one of the first U.S. cities hit hard by the virus, but cases have leveled off and some restrictions are being loosened. The ceremony bestows new awards focused on live performances and music videos created at home during the pandemic. BTS, Doja Cat and J Balvin are among the performances announced so far by MTV.

Stewart, 74, told the crowd he was given the all-clear in July after being diagnosed with prostate cancer during a routine check-up in 2016. Prostate cancer is the fourth most commonly diagnosed type of cancer worldwide, according to the World Health Organization, with 1.3 million cases in 2018. The 62-year-old comedian and presenter is the latest celebrity to join the "Men, We Are With You" campaign by charity Prostate Cancer UK, which is aimed at raising awareness. "A prostate cancer diagnosis is a scary thing -- you never expect it's going to happen to you," Fry said in an interview on the charity's website.

It will be Swift's first major televised performance following the release of her album, "Lover," and her first at the VMAs since 2015. Swift is nominated in multiple categories, including video of the year, song of the year, and video for good for her singles "Me!" Other nominees include Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X, who are both nominated for best new artist. "It's been an incredible year in music and this group of nominees perfectly reflect the rich pop music landscape," said Bruce Gillmer, Head of Music and Music Talent for MTV.

Minaj was scheduled to headline the Jeddah World Fest, a music and performance festival, on July 18. Saudi Arabia is a conservative kingdom where people in some public places are segregated by gender and same-sex relationships are criminalized. "Saudi Arabia I see some of your comments & I want to respond directly to my fans," the photo reads, "Voice your opinions here." "After careful reflection I have decided to no longer move forward with my scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest," she said.
