A judge’s decision to toss out the boundaries of the only Republican-held congressional district in New York City could help Democrats notch a win in the national redistricting wars — but for now, the outcome remains uncertain.

"The impeachment-obsessed Democrats just flushed their majority down the toilet," said National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Michael McAdams. Vulnerable House Democrats acknowledged the threat. "I'm already being attacked for my vote today in support of the impeachment inquiry," tweeted Rep. Lucy McBath of Georgia, before sending out a link for donations. Democrats countered that argument by listing off what else they would do besides the impeachment inquiry.

(CNN) - A New York woman arrested in Russia on suspicion of possessing marijuana she claimed was medicinal has been released, a Russian court said in a statement. Lorber was convicted under the criminal code of the Russian Federation and fined 15,000 rubles, or about $235, according to a statement from the Moscow District Court of St. Petersburg. Lorber had a US permit to use marijuana as part of a medical program, but the permit doesn't apply in Russia, Lebedeva said. It wasn't immediately clear when the arrest happened, or what medical condition Lorber has. The US State Department said at the time that it was aware a US citizen was arrested in St. Petersburg.

(CNN) - House Democrats who won Republican districts in 2018 are pushing back on the House Judiciary Committee's impeachment investigation effort, arguing that pursuing impeachment is a mistake and that they would vote against it. While liberal Democrats are pushing for impeachment proceedings, frontline Democrats remain Rose are opposed to such efforts. There are 135 House Democrats who have publicly supported an impeachment inquiry, according to CNN's tally. But the push in the Judiciary Committee this week has also sparked a more public voice of caution from those Democrats opposed to impeachment. Rep. Mikie Sherrill, a freshman New Jersey Democrat, also said she didn't think the House should be moving on impeachment.
