Easter weekend forecast
ROANOKE, Va. – Partly cloudy skies are on tap tonight. Any showers early will end pretty quickly, and some fog may form closer to sunrise. Lows tonight will be mild...falling into the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Saturday starts dry under partly to mostly sunny skies. However more clouds will enter later in the day. And pop-up t-showers will be possible after lunchtime...but more of us will stay dry than get wet on Saturday. It will remain quite warm with highs in the low-to-mid 80s.
The rain fills in Saturday night, and the first part of Easter Sunday looks wet. I am cautiously optimistic that the heaviest of the rain will be gone and by early-to-mid afternoon and we may even close out Easter Sunday with some sunshine. A few rumbles of thunder will be possible as this powerful cold front moves through the area. And the wind will pick up as well. Temperatures will rise into the 60s and 70s before falling later in the day behind this frontal boundary. By days end temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s. And next week looks much cooler than this holiday weekend.
Looking ahead to next week
High pressure will move in next week and dominate our weather for a significant amount of time. Monday through Friday all look dry under mainly sunny skies. However, we will be cooler. Temperatures will reach the middle 60s on Monday but will drop into the upper 50s and lower 60s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Lows Tuesday night will be near freezing for many of us. However, temperatures will recover nicely late next week. We will climb into the lower 70s on Thursday and potentially reach the upper 70s a week from today. We will also be breezy early in the work week before the wind settles down by Tuesday or Wednesday.
