Dry & Breezy Conditions Are Resulting In Wildfire Concerns
THIS EVENING/TONIGHT
Temperatures cool down into the 20s and 30s tonight thanks to high pressure keeping our skies mostly clear. Unfortunately, the wind sticks around and will make it feel even colder than what it is outside. By the time we wake up Tuesday morning it will feel like the teens in the NRV and Highlands, and the 20s across the Roanoke Valley, Lynchburg and Southside.
TOMORROW
Partly cloudy skies for most of the day with sunshine prevailing at times. We start off really chilly thanks to the winds, so keep the jacket handy! Afternoon temperatures get into the low-mid 50s but won’t feel like it because of the breezy conditions. The brushfire threat extends into tomorrow because of low humidity levels and gusty winds.
WEDNESDAY
Mostly clear skies build back in for the day as temperatures get back into the 60s during the afternoon hours. This time around, the winds turn even gustier. Peak wind gusts near 30-40mph will be felt across the region. This will make the fire threat even more elevated throughout the day. It is absolutely a good idea to avoid outdoor burning until conditions improve. A fire weather watch is in effect for Wednesday. For more information visit wsls.com/weather
LATE WEEK
Conditions will change as we are tracking some late week rain chances as we head into Friday. At the moment, scattered showers are to be expected with a 50% chance of rain.
