Several people hospitalized, two in critical condition after car crashes into Franklin County home

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Va. – Several people were hospitalized after a car crashed into a home Tuesday evening in Franklin County.

According to the Franklin County Department of Public Safety, at about 9 p.m., crews were called to an area near the intersection of Iron Ridge Road and Foggy Ridge Road for the report of a crash.

Once at the scene, authorities discovered that a 2006 Ford Mustang had crashed through the front of the home, hitting six residents, three of which were children. All were transported to Roanoke Hospital for treatment, and two of the six, an adult and a child, are in critical condition.

Here’s a list of the residents’ conditions as of Wednesday afternoon, according to VSP:

  • 28-year-old woman with non-life-threatening injuries
  • 69-year-old woman with non-life-threatening injuries
  • 8-year-old boy with non-life-threatening injuries
  • 8-year-old girl with non-life-threatening injuries
  • 2-year-old boy with life-threatening injuries

The driver of the Mustang, a 32-year-old man, was injured as well and was transported to a hospital.

Charges are pending, according to Virginia State Police.

The Franklin County Department of Public Safety, the Rocky Mount Fire Department, the Franklin County Public Safety Chaplains, the Fire Marshal’s Office, Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies and Virginia State Police all responded to the incident.
