BLACKSBURG (WSLS 10) - A former Blacksburg principal who was cleared of assault in July was taken off administrative leave.
Carol Kahler was accused of slapping a student at Gilbert Linkous Elementary, where she served as principal until she was put on leave in March.

A judge found she was not guilty after a more than 13-hour trial. A new principal was named at Gilbert Linkous before Kahler's trial.
A school spokeswoman says Kahler is now an Administrator on Assignment at the school board office where she helps with professional development activities for workers, assistance with instructional coaches and other duties as assigned.
Kahler appealed a finding by the department of social services, but no information on that case was released.
