Harris says the school bus veered off the road on to the shoulder - which was very soft from recent rains - and was unable to turn back onto the road. The bus was found at a 45 degree angle against a fence - with the fence being the only thing holding the bus up.
Three students and the bus driver were inside the vehicle - two high school students and one elementary student. One high school student and the elementary school student were transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Harris says no major injuries were reported and it was overall a minor accident.
The driver was reported to be very shaken from the incident and was charged with failure to maintain control of the vehicle.
Two wreckers were brought on scene Thursday morning to remove the bus. No traffic delays were reported. Virginia State Police and a Floyd County deputy handled the incident.
