Salem police believe Wednesday morning shooting, other incidents tied to local duplex

No injuries reported

SALEM, VA.UPDATE

After a shooting early Wednesday morning in Salem, police say they believe that this and other similar incidents are all linked to one duplex.

Authorities say that officers responded to the 1700 block of Ellis Court shortly after midnight Wednesday after getting a call for gunshots in the area.

When officers arrived, they found several empty cartridge casings in the road. They also found that one of the discharged rounds hit a window of a home in the area. There was no one inside the home at the time of the shooting, according to police.

Authorities say there were no injuries reported.

Earlier this month, neighbors one street over on Dalewood Avenue say shots were fired at their home overnight.

Police say this is the latest incident in a string of disturbances in the area involving the tenant of a duplex in the area. According to the Salem Police Department, officers have been working with the current property owner over the past year to address these ongoing incidents.

This remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Salem Police Department at 540-375-3083.
