Police: One student dead, one injured after North Carolina high school stabbing

Police said a physical altercation resulted in the stabbing of two victims

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. – One student was killed and one person was injured just four days into the school year in a North Carolina high school on Thursday, NBC reported.

Authorities said that a fight broke out between students at Northside High School, and the school resource officer responded within 20 seconds, taking a student into custody.

Police said staff on the scene provided medical care until EMS arrived at the scene.

Authorities said the two students were taken to the hospital to be treated, but one succumbed to their injuries.

The minors involved are not being identified, police said.
