38-year-old man shot at Vinton McDonald’s has died, police say

No arrests have been made at this time

VINTON, Va. – On Wednesday morning, authorities announced that the Vinton man shot on Monday night at the McDonald’s in Vinton has died.

Vinton police are investigating the shooting death of Gary McMiller, 38, as a homicide.

No arrests have been made at this time, according to police.

UPDATE:

Vinton police say one man was found inside the McDonald’s on Hardy Road in Vinton with a gunshot wound.

According to police, it happened around 9:30 p.m. Monday night.

After investigating the scene, police determined that a shooting took place in the parking lot of the McDonald’s.

The suspected car, a silver sedan, fled the scene before police got there.

The man was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Vinton Police Department.


ORIGINAL STORY:

A heavy police presence is currently on the scene at a McDonald’s located at 508 Hardy Road in Vinton.

WSLS 10 News is currently on the scene and can see the whole parking lot is taped off with Vinton Police Department vehicles present.

Employees were seen at the scene hugging and seemingly emotional.

Police have not confirmed what happened.
