Motorcyclist hospitalized after crash closed Orange Ave. in Roanoke, police say

Road is now back open

ROANOKE, Va.UPDATE

Authorities have released more information on a crash that closed down parts of Orange Avenue NW in Roanoke.

Police said they responded to the scene of the crash at 8th Street and Orange Avenue NW around 9 a.m. where a motorcycle and vehicle crashed in the roadway.

The man driving the motorcycle was taken to the hospital by Roanoke-Fire EMS for treatment of what looked like serious injuries, according to police.

According to preliminary investigations, the motorcycle was going West on Orange Avenue as the vehicle was turning East onto the road from 8th Street, which is when police say it hit the motorcycle.

Authorities said the driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

No charges have been placed at this time and it remains an ongoing investigation.

Orange Avenue is now open.

Orange Avenue NW in Roanoke is shut down due to a crash, according to Roanoke Police.

Police said the road is shut down from 10 Street to Gainsboro Road.

Traffic is expected to be impacted until further notice. Drivers are asked to go a different route and to avoid traveling in this area if possible.
