LYNCHBURG, Va. – Update:
Three 14-year-old students have been charged after Monday’s gun possession incident at Sandusky Middle School, according to LPD.

The students have been charged with the following:
14-year-old male student, who brought the gun to school:
- Larceny of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Under 18
14-year-old male student, who purchased the gun:
- Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Under 18
14-year-old male student, who handled the gun
- Possession of a Firearm on School Property
- Possession of a Firearm Under 18
Original Story:
A Lynchburg middle school was placed on lockdown following a student bringing a gun to the school, Lynchburg Police Department said.
LPD said they received reports of a student possibly in possession of a gun at Sandusky Middle School around 9:57 a.m. on Monday. The school was placed on lockdown, and all individuals involved were detained for questioning.
Authorities said upon investigation, a handgun was found at the school, which they found was intended to be sold. There is no threat to the school. All parties were cooperative regarding the matter.
LPD thanked the school administration, Lynchburg City Schools, and School Safety Officers for their assistance in this incident.
