Man arrested for DUI after child hit by car in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. UPDATE:

As a result of the crash that injured a 9-year-old girl on Saturday night, 23-year-old Jarret Paul Wood was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, Roanoke Police Department said.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A 9-year-old girl was hit by a car near the Berglund Center parking lot, at the 600 block of Williamson Road NE, on Saturday night following a Rail Yard Dawgs game.

According to the Roanoke Police Department, the crash occurred just after 10 p.m. The girl was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene after the incident.
