ROANOKE, Va. – Police say a boy accidentally shot himself Thursday afternoon in Northwest Roanoke.
A 14-year-old boy was shot in the foot, according to the boy's brother.
Police responded at 4:34 p.m. where they found the boy with a gunshot wound to his foot in the 1100 block of Gilmer Avenue NW.
The brother said that the boy was outside at the time of the shooting and coherent after it happened.
The boy was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Roanoke Fire-EMS.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
