1st and 10 Camp Tour: Liberty Christian returns with new weapons

LYNCHBURG, Va. – As our 1st and 10 Camp Tour winds down, we met with a must-see from the Seminole District in Class 3: state finalist Liberty Christian Academy.

Head Coach Frank Rocco’s squad came within one score of winning it all in 2021. But they reload, not rebuild at LCA, with incumbent Jeb Moon and transfer Joe Borchers from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida who has an offer from Miami. The two-step in for Davis Lane at quarterback, who is now at UVA.

Rocco said they will likely utilize both quarterbacks in this year’s campaign, they are two different athletes, a big strong thrower, and a jet quick dual-threat QB.

“Each of them has unique abilities that I think we’re going to have to use both of them,” Rocco said. “You usually don’t like to have to alternate but in this case, the skillsets they have are very necessary to do what we have to do.”

“Yeah, we play in one of the most difficult districts in the state, you know, the Seminole district, we got a lot of good schools,” senior Carson Meadows said. “Region 3C has a lotta good schools – but I think we’re finally starting to shape up and showing people we’re here to stay.”

LCA will open its season on Friday, August 26 at Magna Vista.
