Democrat Chedrick Greene has won a special election in Michigan, securing the party’s control of the state Senate through the remainder of Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s term.

Voters in a competitive central Michigan district will decide control of the state Senate on Tuesday in a special election to fill the seat last held by Democrat Kristen McDonald Rivet, who's now a congresswoman.
