Steelers knock out Lock, hold off Driskel, Broncos 26-21

(AP Photo/Keith Srakocic)PITTSBURGH – A game seemingly in hand suddenly on the cusp of slipping away, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin didn't overthink things. Needing a stop to turn back the surprisingly resilient Denver Broncos, the Steelers dialed up one final blitz in an afternoon filled with them. So the Broncos (0-2) hung around despite losing starting quarterback Drew Lock (right shoulder) in the first quarter. The Steelers recovered and went downfield for a touchdown while Lock was in the blue medical tent getting evaluated. Still, he wasn't exactly thrilled on a day the Steelers never trailed but struggled to put the Broncos away.

Were they a threat? Police shootings reignite legal debate

Wisconsin authorities are investigating those questions as they weigh charges against the officer in a case that has reignited national protests over racial injustice. Authorities have not identified the officer or officers who shot Pellerin or said where or how many times he was shot. A union attorney said in the moments leading up to the shooting, officers saw Blake holding a knife and made multiple requests for him to drop it but he was uncooperative. After police tried twice unsuccessfully to use a stun gun on Blake, officer Rusten Sheskey shot him at close range while holding onto his shirt, authorities said. Yet, the tactics used by the officer who shot Blake are highly questionable, said Seth Stoughton, another former officer.

Pennsylvania police settle lawsuit in shooting of black teenager

HARRISBURG, PA. (Reuters) - The parents of Antwon Rose II, a black teenager shot dead by a police officer in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 2018, will receive a settlement worth about $2 million of their civil damage claim, according to a court document. Roses estate filed a civil damage lawsuit in U.S. District Court on August 1, 2018. The case was settled with Rosfeld on October 17, and with East Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Roses parents retained an accounting firm to determine if East Pittsburgh held assets beyond its insurance policies that could be added to the damage pay-out. In the end, $2 million was determined to be the maximum amount available, court papers said.
