Senator to supporters: How about skipping a meal to donate?
PHOENIX โ Sen. Martha McSally has suggested that supporters could โfast a meal" to donate to the Arizona Republican's campaign as she fights to fend off a tough challenge from Democrat Mark Kelly. If you can give a dollar, five dollars, if you can fast a meal and give what that would be.โThe remark drew critical attention on social media, while McSally's campaign said the candidate was just joking about skipping a meal. โThis is a dumb, non-story about a candidate,โ Caroline Anderegg, a McSally campaign spokeswoman, told the Arizona Republic. โIt is frankly sad and disgusting that the Dems and the Kelly campaign are launching a misleading character assassination on Martha McSally, who would literally give the shirt off her back for anyone." McSally trails Kelly in recent polls by anywhere from 5 to 11 percentage points, according to realclearpolitics.com.
The always intimate Theatre for One goes online
Theatre for One, where one audience member sees one short play performed by a single actor in a portable theater, has now gone online. Its a space designed specifically for this interaction, now designed online, said two-time Tony-winning scenic designer Christine Jones, who conceived and leads the project. The custom designed digital platform will allow audience members and actors to interact more closely than on traditional online platforms. Until now, Theatre for One has always been resistant to suggestions to transform into an online experience. It's just one way the theater community is trying to acknowledge the power of Black Lives Matter in theater, including the Black Theatre Coalition,While We Breathe, and Black Theater United.
