Man United revels in 6-2 win v Leeds, Vardy sinks Tottenham

Manchester United's Scott McTominay celebrates his side's second goal during an English Premier League soccer match between Manchester United and Leeds United at the Old Trafford stadium in Manchester, England, Sunday Dec. 20, 2020. (Michael Regan/Pool via AP)Manchester United waited 16 years to play old rival Leeds in the English Premier League, and then made it look distinctly second-class. The easy win put United ahead of Tottenham, which swept United aside 6-1 in October but is now mired in problems of its own. HIT FOR SIXScott McTominay looked like one of the Premier League's top scorers as Man United swept into an early lead over Leeds. ALLARDYCE BEATENSam Allardyce is the coach Premier League teams turn to when they need to avoid relegation.

Reyna follows dad, mom, among 6 debuts as US ties Wales 0-0

United States' Giovanni Reyna instructs his teammates during the international friendly soccer match between Wales and USA at Liberty stadium in Swansea, Wales, Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020. (AP Photo/Kirsty Wigglesworth)Gio Reyna walked onto the field for his U.S. national team debut, just like mom Danielle in 1993, just like dad Claudio in 1994. Reyna played 78 minutes Thursday night and was among six debuts for the Americans in a 0-0 tie against Wales in an exhibition at Swansea. And overall, a 17-year-old debuting and he didn’t look like that.”Claudio Reyna made 112 international appearances from 1994 to 2006, playing in three World Cups. Reyna was in a mobile and dynamic midfield, combining with 21-year-old Tyler Adams of Leipzig and 22-year-old Weston McKennie of Juventus.

Chelsea humbled by Manchester United on Premier League opening weekend

Daniel James of Manchester United scores the fourth goal during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Chelsea FC at Old Trafford on Aug. 11 in Manchester, United Kingdom. (Photo by Julian Finney/Getty Images)(CNN) - Frank Lampard's first Premier League game as Chelsea manager ended in a humiliating defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford. A goal for 21-year-old James shortly after he had come onto the pitch was the icing on the cake. The Blues, however, continued to trouble the United goal and struck the post again shortly before halftime through Emerson. Rashford found himself in space inside his own half and carried strongly towards the Chelsea goal.
