Hokies LB Ashby, CB Farley named to AP All-ACC team
RALEIGH, NC โ Third-ranked Clemson once again dominated the Associated Press All-Atlantic Coast Conference teams and individual awards released Tuesday. Led by unanimous selections Travis Etienne at running back and Isaiah Simmons at linebacker, eight Tigers made the first team. Clemson earned its fifth straight berth in the College Football Playoff a day after routing Virginia in the league title game. Etienne repeated as the offensive player of the year while Simmons was chosen as the defensive player of the year. Louisville coach Scott Satterfield is the coach of the year while North Carolina freshman quarterback Sam Howell is the newcomer of the year.
Perkins, Reed pace Virginia in rout of William & Mary, 52-17
William & Mary (1-1) got its only points against Virginia's first team after recovering a muffed punt at the Cavaliers' 13 yard-line in the second quarter. "If there is a time to have those, now was the time," coach Bronco Mendenhall said of Perkins' miscues. The Cavaliers also scored on Nick Grant's 85-yard interception return and freshman Mike Hollins' 9-yard run on his first college attempt. MILESTONESThe game was the first for Virginia since they beat Duke 49-28 in 1989 that the Cavs did not have to punt.
