Once given the green light, Johnson & Johnson said it expects to supply 100 million doses to the country by June. More than 26 million COVID-19 cases have now been reported across the United States, and nearly 460,000 people have died due to the virus. Over 36 million vaccine shots currently on the market have been administered nationwide, and 7.5 million people are now fully vaccinated.

Mark Newman, oversaw Yankees' prospects, dead at 71

NEW YORK – Mark Newman, a key front office executive for the New York Yankees during their run of five World Series titles from 1996 through 2009, was found dead Saturday at his home in Tampa, Florida. The Yankees said it was not clear whether he died Friday or Saturday. Newman was omnipresent for two decades at the Yankees’ minor league complex in Tampa, Florida, his portly frame easily recognizable from a distance. “He was very passionate about all the guys in the minor league system,” Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner said in a statement. “He would come to the Dominican Republic and watch me during tryouts,” Yankees catcher Gary Sánchez said in a statement.

Trump, Mariano Rivera mark Opening Day at White House

WASHINGTON President Donald Trump recruited Baseball Hall of Famer Mariano Rivera to help mark baseball's Opening Day with a group of Little League players at the White House on Thursday. Riveras old team was in Washington to open up Major League Baseballs abbreviated season Thursday night against the defending champion Nationals. Trump, for his part, said he'd been invited to toss out the opening pitch on Aug. 15 at Yankee Stadium. The president praised Major League Baseball for moving forward. I think Major League Baseball is setting an example by playing to empty stadiums.
