Norvel Lee was first introduced to the public and rose to prominence after he won the light heavyweight gold medal for boxing in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, but the Botetourt native’s accomplishments in life span far beyond the world of boxing.

State officials along with Lee's family were in attendance for the momentous occasion.
