The national library said this year’s selections include a record nine films directed by women and filmmakers of color. Christopher Nolan’s 2008 Batman film “The Dark Knight” was a blockbuster and the top public vote-getter.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - The black leather jacket and skin-tight pants worn by singer and actress Olivia Newton-John in the movie "Grease" have sold for $405,700 -- more than double the auction estimate. Newton-John starred as Sandy Olsson in the 1950s-set box office hit Grease, opposite John Travolta as Danny Zuko. Ahead of the auction, the actress, now 71, revealed that she had to be sewn into the distinctive high-waisted pants during filming. Ahead of the auction, the actress told told Reuters Television it had taken months to sort through boxes and storage containers, but that it had been "a fun venture."

The all-black ensemble, which the actress was famously sewn into to shoot the scenes, fetched a combined $405,700 at the sale in Beverly Hills on Saturday. Other items in the sale included Newton-John's custom "Pink Ladies" jacket, which sold for $50,000, and the pink gown she wore to the "Grease" premiere, which went for $18,750. The auction raised a total of $2.4 million, according to The Guardian newspaper, with a portion of the profits set to be donated to the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre in Australia. Newton-John is currently undergoing treatment for stage four breast cancer, after being diagnosed with the disease twice previously in 1992 and 2013.

(CNN) - The iconic black leather jacket and skin-tight pants worn by the singer and actress Olivia Newton-John in the film "Grease" will go on sale at an auction house in Beverly Hills on Saturday. The outfit, made famous in the 1978 film's final song,"You're the One that I Want," is estimated to fetch between $100,000 and $200,000, according to the auction house selling it along with hundreds of other items from Newton-John's career. Ahead of the auction, Newton-John revealed that she had to be sewn into the high-waisted pants. A custom Pink Ladies jacket given to her by the "Grease" cast and crew will also go under the hammer and is expected to fetch between $2,000 and $4,000.

Olivia Newton-John doesn't want to know how long she has to live

(CNN) - As she battles cancer for the third time, Olivia Newton-John is not focusing on how much time she may have left. The 70-year-old singer and actress sat down with "60 Minutes Australia" to talk about living with stage 4 breast cancer. "If somebody tells you, you have six months to live, very possibly you will because you believe that," Newton-John continued. Proceeds will go toward the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia. "You are the most amazing person, the most amazing mom, the most amazing ambassador," Jackman said.

Celebrities who have battled cancer

Olivia Newton-John has revealed that her latest battle with cancer is actually her third time fighting the disease. She was diagnosed with cancer at the base of her spine in 2017, which was thought to be her second cancer diagnosis following a 1992 breast cancer diagnosis she beat after undergoing chemotherapy and a partial mastectomy. But in a Sept. 9, 2018, she revealed she had also been diagnosed in 2013 with a new breast cancer that had spread to her shoulder. Hide Caption
