'What would Ragnar do?' — Roanoke mourns loss of beloved therapy dog Ragnar

After nearly a decade of service and a battle with cancer, Ragnar, Oakey's Funeral Services therapy dog has passed. Ragnar became well-known locally for attending funeral services and helping people who were struggling to talk about their grief.

Ragnar spent more than a decade comforting families at Oakey’s Funeral Services, attending more than 1,000 funerals and helping people who were withdrawn find a way to open up. One week after he retired, the golden retriever was diagnosed with B-cell lymphoma, a form of cancer.
