'Spider-Man' swings on as Marvel, Sony mend split
On Friday, the parties announced that Marvel would again have a hand in producing the next sequel, and that Spider-Man would appear in another upcoming Marvel feature. In a statement, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige said he is "thrilled that Spidey's journey in the MCU will continue." The result benefited both sides, with Sony releasing the hits "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Spider-Man: Far From Home," and the character appearing in several Marvel movies, including the "Avengers" saga. In August, however, the relationship broke down, with the announcement that Feige would no longer oversee the production of the Spider-Man movies. "Spider-Man: Far From Home" has grossed more than $1.1 billion worldwide, making it the third most lucrative movie released in 2019, behind "Avengers: Endgame" and "The Lion King."
Split no more, Spider-Man gets another swing with Marvel
ROANOKE, Va. - Spider-Man won't be leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon. After a public fallout last month, Sony Pictures Entertainment and The Walt Disney Studios have found a way to work together. The studios said Friday that they would be teaming up once more to produce a third "Spider-Man" film starring Tom Holland. Disputes over the profit-sharing structure put Spidey's future in the MCU in doubt, much to the chagrin of many fans who had enjoyed seeing Spider-Man fighting alongside The Avengers. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said in a statement that he's thrilled that the character's journey in the MCU is continuing.
Man escapes Philadelphia high-rise fire by climbing down building
(CNN) - Did Philadelphia's friendly neighborhood "Spider-Man" just escape an apartment fire? The fire department responded to the fire around 9:30 p.m. Thursday in West Philadelphia, according to CNN affiliate WPVI. When they arrived at the 19-story high-rise, they saw a truly shocking sight: a man climbing down the outside of the building to escape the fire. The fire was believed to have been started by a trash compactor, said WPVI. The building was evacuated, and while some residents were unaccounted for, no injuries have been reported, the station said.
'Spider-Man' Tom Holland Rescues Fan Being Crushed Outside 'Late Show'
Before he entered the Ed Sullivan Theater in Midtown Manhattan, Holland helped a young lady who was being pushed by autograph hounds. I got you, Holland told Cassidy Ariel as she was being pushed into barricades. Ariel found herself in a throng of eager fans outside the theater as Holland showed up. Holland told the people around Ariel back up and made sure she was alright. Holland didn't dish on the drama during his appearance on Colbert's show, but this fan said she will never forget Spider-Man coming to her rescue.
