Cammack won in a Republican field of 10 candidates in the firmly Republican district that runs from Ocala to just south of Jacksonville. In Broward County, Sheriff Gregory Tony claimed victory in the Democratic primary over his predecessor, who was fired after the Parkland massacre. In a Palm Beach County congressional district, far right conservative Laura Loomer won the Republican primary to face Democratic U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel. As of June 30, Florida had nearly 4.9 million active Republican voters and more than 5.1 million active Democratic voters. The state has nearly 3.8 million voters who either are not registered with a party or are registered with a minor party.

I rise to apologize for the abrupt manner of the conversation I had with my colleague from New York, Yoho said of Monday's encounter. I will not teach my nieces and young people watching that this an apology, and what they should learn to accept. I hope that Mr. Yoho feels that apology sincerely," Hoyer said.

WASHINGTON A top House Democrat demanded an apology Tuesday from a Republican lawmaker who is accused of using a sexist slur after an angry encounter with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The Hill newspaper said one of its reporters witnessed the confrontation on Monday between Ocasio-Cortez and Florida Rep. Ted Yoho on the steps outside the Capitol. The comments by Yoho were despicable and unacceptable" and require an apology on the House floor, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., told reporters. But hey, b(asterisk)tches get stuff done," she wrote, using one of the words The Hill reported Yoho had used. It is unfortunate that Rep. Ocasio-Cortez is using this exchange to gain personal attention," said Kaveny.
