CNN – A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in the stabbing death of Barnard College freshman Tessa Majors in New York City, police and prosecutors said Saturday. Majors, 18, was walking in Manhattan's Morningside Park near Barnard College on December 11 when she was attacked, NYPD said. "Sadly, it cannot bring back this young woman, this student, this victim," NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said of the arrest. "It paints a gruesome picture of what this young woman endured in her final moments," he said. The school’s campus stretches from West 116th Street to West 120th Street off Broadway in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of New York City.

NEW YORK, NY – A juvenile suspect has been arrested in the fatal stabbing of an 18-year-old Barnard College freshman, according to a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and did so on condition of anonymity Friday. Majors was attacked during an armed robbery, according to the president of Barnard College, which is part of the Ivy League’s Columbia University. She then staggered to a nearby street, where she was spotted by a security guard who called 911, Harrison said. Investigators recovered a knife Thursday but were not certain whether it was connected to Majors’ death.
