ROANOKE, Va. – Monday Evening Update
The past couple of days we have been spoiled by dry and pleasant weather! That will continue into the evening hours, but not through the entire day on Tuesday.
Wind gusts as of 6:30 PM Monday night were between 15-20mph across the viewing area. It has been a breezy day, but that will not last into the overnight hours.
Tonight, the wind will calm down, and cloud cover will increase as we reach the early morning hours.
Severe storm potential is very low for Tuesday, but a few thunderstorms could bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall.
The first line will move through around 3-6 PM. A few thunderstorms may be embedded in this round.
6:30 PM
Around 8 PM, there will be a break in the rain until early Wednesday morning.
Widespread showers will overtake the viewing area from 3-6AM, clearing out by 8 AM.
After the main event early in the morning, a few more pop up showers and thunderstorms are possible around 3 PM Wednesday afternoon.
The active pattern will settle down into the weekend as temperatures fall into the 60s and 70s!
Monday Morning Update
We’ll max out temperatures in the 80s on Monday as cloud cover slowly increases later in the day.
That gives way to more warm, moist air by the time we get into Tuesday evening and overnight.
Widespread rainfall will impact the region around midnight, which could lead to some localized flooding.
Later this week, we cool down and clear up, just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
