ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Roanoke County supervisor Al Bedrosian responded Wednesday to teachers offended by his comments about their salaries and benefits.
Teachers held a rally in front of the County Administration Building Tuesday. Bedrosian previously said he would not support a raise higher than 2.5 percent and commented the off-time teachers receive is better than most jobs.

Wednesday, Bedrosian said he stands by his comments and thinks teachers are misinformed.
"Anybody can always argue that they're not making more than someone else, and then once they make more than that person, then that person is going to argue they don't make more. I think what we have here is that it's reasonable," Bedrosian explained.
Out of 25 southwest Virginia counties, Roanoke County ranks third in average teacher pay, at $49,968. That's behind Botetourt and Nelson counties. However, it ranks18th in entry level salaries at $36,000.
Bedrosian said he wants the board to present the numbers to the public at the October 27 meeting.
