Many of the added classes are general courses that all Virginia Western students are required to take.

Executive Director of the Franklin Center, Kathy Hodges, says the growing number of classes is important.

It will help save many local students time and money as some have more than a 40 minute drive to the main campus in Roanoke.

Leaders are hoping to growth in classes will lead to a growth in enrollment.

The expansion will also benefit Franklin County businesses as the college plans to work with more local companies to offer specialized trainings.

The expansion comes as a result of Patrick Henry Community College no longer offering courses in the County due to budget cuts. Virginia Western says it wanted to fill the void and expand the number of classes as Franklin County is quickly growing in population.
