) - The Fairfax County Health Department is currently investigating a suspected case of measles in a Fairfax County resident. Test results of this case will not be known for 24 hours.

Health officials are currently trying to determine places that may have been exposed. The individual is currently in self-isolation at home.

If the case is positive, a news conference will be held on Wednesday, February 11.

People who have received at least one dose of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine in the past are at very low risk of being infected with measles. Measles is easily preventable through safe and effective MMR vaccine.

The best protection against future measles cases is the on-time vaccination of all susceptible people.
