RICHMOND (WSLS 10) - A new reservation policy for cabin rentals at some Virginia State Parks is set to go into effect May 1.

Cabins at Belle Isle, James River, Natural Tunnel, Staunton River, Twin Lakes and Westmoreland state parks will drop the seven-night stay requirement, allowing guests to book two-night stays. According to the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, the pilot program will stay in place throughout the summer of 2015.

Park staff will then evaluate results of the program and determine how the policy could be expanded or revised for the 2016 vacation season.

Some restrictions to the new policy apply. For more information about state park activities and amenities, or to make cabin or camping reservations, call the Virginia State Parks Customer Service Center at 800-933-7275 or visit www.virginiastateparks.gov.
