One organization in the Roanoke Valley is taking time to honor the American Flag.

The Roanoke Elks Lodge held their annual Flag Day on Sunday. The event brings community members together to learn about the history of the American Flag.
Roanoke Elks Lodge members said the Grand Lodge in Dallas recognized the first Flag Day on June 14, 1908.
"It's great, we're glad to have so many people out here, every year we have more and more people they come to enjoy the day enjoy the water, enjoy the camaraderie ," Marcelino Costillo, the chairman of the event said.
Those who attended the event in Roanoke said they're happy to show their patriotism.
