DANVILLE (WSLS10) - The Danville Area Humane Society is encouraging people to not use glue traps.
On Monday, a cardinal was brought in to the humane society after accidentally getting stuck on a glue trap.

The bird's entire underbelly was stuck to the trap, so it had to be euthanized.
Paulette Dean, the director of the humane society, said glue traps cause animals a lot of suffering and there are more humane ways to catch pests like mice or rodents, which people commonly use glue traps for.
"Some die of dehydration, stress. Then, in some we have seen the glue get into their nostrils and their mouth," Dean said, explaining how animals can suffer by getting stuck on a glue trap.
She said this is not the first time they have had a bird brought in that has gotten stuck on a glue trap and they have also had chipmunks brought in in the past after getting stuck on the traps.
