Thousands of AEP customers in Roanoke, Roanoke county without power

ROANOKE COUNTY (WSLS 10) - Appalachian Power crews are working to determine what caused more than 3,000 customers in Roanoke city and Roanoke County to lose power.

According to John Shepelwich, an AEP spokesperson, around 7 p.m. Saturday night a substation near 419 and Apperson Drive lost power.

It is unclear what caused the outage.

Shepelwich said once crews determine what caused the power to go out, they can determine how long it will take to turn it back on.
