WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (WSLS 10) - Wendy's restaurants are teaming up to help people in West Virginia.
Store owners of locations in White Sulphur Springs and across the state presented a $33,000 check to Neighbors Loving Neighbors on Tuesday.
Neighbors Loving Neighbors is a campaign started by The Greenbrier resort that is collecting both food and cash to help the flood's victims get back on their feet.
Organizers said the fundraising efforts will continue.
Starting Wednesday, 67 Wendy's restaurants in West Virginia will be donating a portion of their sales to help flood victims get back on their feet.
Jim Justice, owner of The Greenbrier resort, attended Tuesday's check presentation. He said there are lots of people affected by the recent storm and people are pitching in to help.
"I don't know if it gets more clear than this, a lady's house has been completely wiped away and she's downtown helping with another house to be cleaned," said Justice.
Organizers said they hope to raise $100,000 from proceeds at the stores in the next week.
