ROANOKE (WSLS 10) -A local congregation is joining the fight against world hunger.
As part of their participation in the international Stop Hunger Now organization, Harvest Ministries in Roanoke has raised enough money to package 13,500 meals to be sent to those in need around the world.
According to Stop Hunger Now, around the world, nearly 795 million people lack adequate food.
Stop Hunger Now operates meal packaging locations in 20 cities throughout the U.S. and six international locations in South Africa, Malaysia, the Philippines, Italy, India and Peru.
More than 60 volunteers will pack up their meals to be shipped off this afternoon.
