Metro! closed in downtown Roanoke

The restaurant's chef announced Sunday it would close

ROANOKE – After 15 years of business, Metro!, a popular restaurant in downtown Roanoke, has closed. The announcement was made Sunday morning on the restaurant's Facebook page by Chef Andy Schlosser.

"We started Metro! in 2002 with a mission statement that read 'To bring the big city experience to Roanoke.' Soon after we opened, we won the award for 'Best restaurant to feel like you’re not in Roanoke.' 15 years later, we see Roanoke has come into its own and is now the place to be…. not escape from."

The owners of the restaurant did not cite a reason for closing, but instead encouraged patrons to continue to support other local small businesses.

"Please support your local small business owners as they and their employees built downtown Roanoke and will continue its growth. Thank you for 15 great years," the post stated.
