SALEM – A historic building in downtown Salem will soon be the new place to get a cold brew.
The former Tarpley building on 21 East Main Street is under construction as the new owners plan to open a brewery.
Co-owner Sean Turk says the group of owners purchased the building when the former store closed back in May.
The building was built in the 1920s and will be the new home of Olde Salem Brewing Company.
The space is currently under renovation and will seat 150 people.
Turk said the upstairs will be used as apartment space geared toward Roanoke College students.
A grand opening date for the new brewery is tentatively scheduled for the end of this year.
