Engineer performs work again on South Peak retaining wall

Fixes are only for cosmetic problems

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – Parts of the retaining wall at South Peak in Roanoke County will need work once again.

Earlier this week viewers sent us pictures about the wall possibly having issues.

We contacted the development company, Smith-Packett, for answers.

They said they're aware of bulging and the area in question is the same area from 2015.

However, they say this is not a structural issue, only cosmetic.

The area has a missing block where the two walls are converged together.

An engineer for the company went to the site Tuesday and determined it was necessary to fill the voids with cement, and install a new block to prevent any problems with the foundation.

Read the message the engineer sent to Smith-Packett.
