Cornerstone to close after more than 16 years

The popular Downtown Roanoke bar is set to close December 31

ROANOKE, Va. – A popular Downtown Roanoke bar and restaurant is closing.

Cornerstone will close December 31, owner Mike Flanary said. It has been open for 16.5 years.

They are exploring more downtown options.

Flanary says the leasing company told him back in October that the lease would not be renewed.

Three Notch'd Brewing Company, a Charlottesville-based brewery, will soon be taking over that location.

Flanary says business has been strong.

“It’s not our choice," Flanary said. "We wanted to stay open for many more years.”
