Need a ride to the polls? Get there for free on Election Day

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Blacksburg Transit is making it easier for people to get to the polls on Election Day.

All routes will be fare-free next Tuesday for people in Blacksburg and Christiansburg.

You don't need to be in the NRV to get a free ride to the polls.

Valley Metro is making Election Day a Fare Free day. It will be free to ride all fixed route service routes and STAR paratransit service, while Smart Way and Smart Way Express fares will be at the standard rate. 

As we reported earlier, it will also be free to ride the buses in Danville on Election Day. Click here for more information on that.

The Greater Lynchburg Transit Company wants to make sure that all residents have a way to get to the polls. Until 5 p.m. on Election Day, all fixed routes will be fare-free to and from your polling location. 

Lyft and Uber are also stepping up and offering free and discounted rides to the polls.
