Roanoke police investigate early morning shooting downtown
Witnesses say a man shot someone in the Market Square area
ROANOKE, Va. – Update: 9:05 a.m. Sunday:
Roanoke Police have released more information on the early morning shooting Sunday downtown. They said the victim is a man and he’s in stable condition at a hospital.
No arrests have been made and police did not release a description of the suspect to 10 News, or say if they know who they’re looking for.
Police said two women got into an argument with another group of people at a restaurant in the 100 block of Campbell Avenue SW. The argument turned physical, and everyone involved left after they were asked to do so.
Then, the people involved began to fight outside.
That’s when a man shot another man. Police have not said how many shots were fired or how many times the man was hit. They did confirm that he was taken to a hospital.
Police confirm this happened around 2 a.m. and said the investigation is ongoing.

Witnesses told 10 News multiple people in one of the bars got into an argument, which then spilled out into Campbell Avenue in the Market Square area.
While the argument continued, a man went to a car. He then returned to the group and fired a gun.
Witnesses said one person was shot around 2 a.m. and taken away in an ambulance. There's no update on the victim's condition as of this posting.
Police towed away the car in question and are looking for the suspect.
