Carilion employees paint mural to build unity within Roanoke community

ROANOKE, Va. – The pedestrian bridge near Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is getting a new look as employees become artists and paint a mural.

The artwork is mandala-themed, according to organizers. The theme is geometric in shape representing the universe and wholeness.

So, the whole Carilion community is coming together to build unity as we all come back together after the toughest days of the pandemic.

The Carilion Healing Arts Program is leading this project.

“I think that it is shining a positive light on the community within Carilion, but also the community-at-large in Roanoke,” said Artist and Resident Kristin Kovacs.

The painting began this week and will continue into next week.
