Man hospitalized after he was hit by lightning on Sharp Top Mountain Crews say man has non-life-threatening injuries

BEDFORD, Va. – A man is in the hospital after he was hit by lightning at the top of Sharp Top Mountain , according to the Bedford Fire Department.
Authorities said they were dispatched to the shelter at the top of the mountain around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday.
When units arrived, they were about 1,500 feet below where the man was so they hiked in with medical supplies.

First responders said they were then able to get in contact with the man who was conscious but reported pain, weakness and tingling in his extremities.
Officials said the man was then transported to Bedford Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
