New Lynchburg takeout location offers a taste of England without the trek

Owners say they provide authentic recipes from the U.K. and everything is made from scratch

LYNCHBURG, Va. – If you’re looking to experience a taste of England, you’ll no longer have to travel ‘across the pond.’

Emmadale recently opened on Timberlake Road in Lynchburg, providing those that stop by with unique dishes and fresh food.

Owners Emma and Steve Fischer said their business provides authentic recipes from the U.K. and everything is made from scratch.

The fish is fresh, the beer batter is homemade, and the couple spends hours hand-cutting the ‘chips’. They also offer other traditional British dishes, including scones and pies.

Outdoor seating is available, and Emma said it’s common to just show up and “wait in the queue.”

“We are not a fast-food restaurant. We are a takeout, but everything is cooked as you come in through the door. You may wait a few minutes, but it’s fresh,” said Emma.

They’re open Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, but are considering expanding their hours.
