Roanoke County to launch McAfee Knob Trailhead shuttle service

The shuttle will begin operation on Sept. 2

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. – Calling all hikers! McAfee Knob now has a shuttle service to make getting up the mountain a little easier.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at 10 a.m. this morning for the launch of the McAfee Knob Trailhead shuttle service.

Speakers included Martha B. Hooker of the Roanoke County Board of Supervisors and Dr. Raymond D. Smoot of the Virginia Commonwealth Transportation Board.

The shuttle will begin operation on Sept. 2. It has 20 seats and provides ADA accessibility for two wheelchairs.

The Trailhead shuttle service ride is about 15 minutes long, departing from the Interstate 81, Exit 140 Park and Ride.

The shuttle will depart every 30 minutes.
