Lynchburg Police Department to break ground on new headquarters Friday

The ground breaking ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The highly anticipated new Lynchburg Police Department headquarters is one step closer to becoming a reality.

On Friday at 11 a.m., the department is set to break ground on the new headquarters following nearly six years of planning.

This comes after construction of the new facility was approved by the Lynchburg City Council back in April.

It will be located at the corner of Odd Fellows Road and Albert Lankford Drive.

As we’ve reported previously, it is estimated that the project will cost more than $47.5 million.

The groundbreaking ceremony will be open to the public.
