Police searching for suspects after armed carjacking in Vinton

The incident happened on Jefferson Avenue Wednesday, authorities say

VINTON, Va. – The Vinton Police Department is searching for suspects after an armed carjacking in Vinton Wednesday.

Police say they responded to reports of an armed carjacking at 116 Jefferson Ave. at 8:39 p.m.

Upon arrival, authorities say they found the victim unharmed.

Police say an early investigation shows the suspects displayed a gun and stole the victim’s 2009 Honda Accord, leaving the scene before authorities arrived.

Authorities say the suspects are described as two Black men, one wearing a yellow hoodie, the other wearing a black hoodie, and both wearing masks covering a portion of their faces.

No suspects have been located at this time, according to police.

On Thursday, detectives with the Vinton Police Department said they located the victim’s 2009 Honda Accord, unoccupied in an alleyway near Raleigh Avenue in Vinton.

The Vinton Police Department says they are investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made.
