Pittsylvania County crash leaves 43-year-old South Carolina man dead

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va.UPDATE

A 43-year-old man from South Carolina was killed in Tuesday morning’s crash in Pittsylvania County, according to Virginia State Police.

Authorities were called to Gallows Road, not far from Rockford School Road, at about 3 a.m. for the single-vehicle crash.

We’re told Kendall Wayne Rice, 43, of Greer, South Carolina, was driving south in a 2015 Mini Cooper and ran off the right side of the roadway before overturning several times. Rice was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to VSP.

State Troopers said he was not wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation, according to authorities.


UPDATE

This crash has been cleared, according to VDOT.
